There are very few things I get out of bed early for, especially when it is 8 degrees outside and maybe 40 degrees inside. Beautiful sunrises are one of them.
I stood on the lake this morning for this photo, listening to the creaking and heaving of the ice beneath my feet. I watched as the clouds turned pink and then orange and then yellow as the sun rose higher and lit up the sky in a fireworks show of different colors and cloud patterns. I was thankful to be out on the lake with my camera this morning cursing at the clumsiness of my hands in my big mittens. It is so easy to stay in bed on mornings like this, when it is cold and the light has not yet reached my window. But today there was a nice reward for my gumption.
