Sad Day

Thus far, I have written about how nice it is to live in the backcountry. The peace and quiet, beautiful scenery and simple life are the benefits, the reasons why I choose to be out here. But of course, there are also tough parts of living so far from civilization. When the generator needs fixing or 55 gallon drums of gasoline need to be moved or the horses need attention, we need to trouble shoot the problem and try to fix it on our own because help my be far away. We wear many hats, we try to be prepared for anything and hope for the best.

Today, we lost one of our horses. It is a sad day for us, but this is part of living here.
