Besides sled dogs, more snow and lots of visitors, March has also brought back the sunlight. Since I got here in early December the sun has not been above Puntilla Mountain or reached the other side. But yesterday for the first time, the sun stayed above Puntilla for the whole day and set just on the other side. This means that the lodge now has direct sun for almost the whole day.
Pictured below is where the sun set yesterday, on the left hand side of Puntilla Mountain.

It is amazing how quickly we have gained sunlight since December. Everyday we gain six minutes of sunlight, every ten days an hour. Each day the sun’s circle in the sky gets a little higher and a little wider. In only a few days we will reach the equinox, when the day and night are equal in length. Then we will speed towards summer and the midnight sun.
